Our Story: Since 2006

The Doss Heritage & Culture Center is a Texas & Parker County History Museum, dedicated to bringing history to life for all generations to experience and enjoy. Previously, the history and culture of Parker County was housed in one room inside the Weatherford Public Library. Now, the 23,000 square foot Doss Heritage and Culture Center is available for the world to enjoy the rich history and culture of the area.

Part-Time Employment

Visitor Services Associate – Daytime Business Hours

The Doss Heritage and Culture Center is seeking a customer facing part-time Visitor Services Associate to work with our team.  This position is responsible for greeting guests of the museum. Candidates will be friendly, respectful, and have a helpful disposition. In addition, the person in this position answers phones, fields phone calls to different departments, takes messages, and maintains the front desk & gift shop.

Candidate will be computer savvy – this position requires a basic knowledge of computers, you will be responsible for checking & sending emails, maintaining spreadsheets, minimal data entry into museum online CRM systems, as well as utilizing Point of Sale system.

Skills Required:

  • High school diploma
  • At least two years of customer service experience
  • Cash handling experience is preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work Tuesday – Friday plus Every other Saturday
  • Familiarity with basic computer software – email, Microsoft Office, Point of Sale systems (training will be provided)
  • Ability to solve client issues in a friendly and timely fashion
  • Friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • Comfortability in learning new computer functions within our CRM system.

Job Type: Part-time (average 30+ hours per week)

Pay: Starting at $11.00 per hour *opportunity for growth

Schedule: * 7.5-hour shift (9:30a-5p Tuesday-Friday + every other Saturday)

Summer Education Internship

Doss Heritage and Culture Center 

Summer Museum Education Internship


May 23rd, 2022 – August 5th, 2022

Orientation May 23rd from 10am-1pm Lunch Provided

Tuesday – Friday 9am-5pm

Saturday mornings (9am-Noon) as needed no more than (4)

MUST BE AVAILABLE these weeks: June 7-10th, June 21-24 and July 5th-8th.

Compensation: $3,200.00 for 11 weeks 

Qualified individuals will assist the Museum Education Department in:

  • assisting with the implementation of three youth camps as a leader for the camps.
  • creating or expanding upon a hands-on history trunk for one subject area relating to the museum’s permanent collections.
  • assisting in all summer education events including but not limited to: Storytimes, STEAM labs, digital and History Alive programming and activity kit pickup.
  • developing activities for Night at the Museum annual event.
  • organizing and updating education files, tracking hours of service for volunteers, etc.
  • creating and tracking surveys for education programs. 
  • any other duties & responsibilities deemed necessary by the department.


Applicants must be at least 18 yrs. of age, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have graduated high school by May of 2022. They must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation. Previous employment references.Must be able to lift 50 lbs. They should be organized, detail-oriented and computer literate. Applicants should have a general knowledge of Texas History and education theories/practices, possess excellent verbal communication and writing skills and LOVE working with children. Interns must be able to work outside during summer camps. All interns will have a background check performed.
