Our Story: Since 2006

The Doss Heritage & Culture Center is a Texas & Parker County History Museum, dedicated to bringing history to life for all generations to experience and enjoy. Previously, the history and culture of Parker County was housed in one room inside the Weatherford Public Library. Now, the 23,000 square foot Doss Heritage and Culture Center is available for the world to enjoy the rich history and culture of the area.

Doss Venue Attendant – Flexible hours, Mostly Nights & Weekends

Doss Venue Attendant

SUMMARY:
The role of a Doss Venue Attendant is critical to the success and safety of each event.  The Venue Attendant oversees all aspects of the venue during the event. The Venue Attendant should conduct themselves with dignity and integrity at all times. Most events take place on weekends and during the evening, so the ability to work weekends and evenings are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cheerful and welcoming demeanor.
Attention to detail.
Be available to clients for venue needs
Greet the main client and those closely associated with the client.
Monitor security cameras throughout the event.
Interact with individuals who have questions or concerns about the venue or event.
Contact Program and Event Coordinator at once when problems occur that are beyond your ability to handle.
At the end of an event – Perform a client walkthrough with venue checklist
Set-up & break down tables and chairs as needed for events; ability to move 50lbs
High school diploma
At least 18 years of age
Availability to work a flexible schedule Tuesday – Sunday, schedules will be set 2 weeks to 1 month in advance

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: starting at $12 per hour based on experience

Summer Education Internship

Doss Heritage and Culture Center

Summer Museum Education Internship Application

Schedule:

May 21, 2024 – July 27, 2024

Tuesday – Friday 9am-5pm, Evenings/extended hours as needed

Saturday mornings (9am-Noon) as needed

Compensation: $3,200 for 10 weeks

Qualified individuals will assist the Museum Education Department in:

• assisting with the implementation of three youth camps as a leader for the camps.

• creating or expanding upon a hands-on history trunk for one subject area relating to the museum’s permanent collections.

• assisting in all summer education events including, but not limited to: Storytimes, STEAM labs, digital and History Alive programming.

• developing activities for Night at the Museum annual event.

• organizing and updating education files, tracking hours of service for volunteers, etc.

• creating and tracking surveys for education programs.

• any other duties & responsibilities deemed necessary by the department.

Requirements:

Qualified applicants should be enrolled in college, be at least 18 yrs. of age, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2024. Graduating seniors with a 3.0 GPA will also be considered if they meet the remaining requirements: must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation, must be able to lift 50 lbs., must be organized, detail-oriented and computer literate. Applicants should have a general knowledge of Texas History and education theories/practices, possess excellent verbal communication and writing skills and LOVE working with children. Interns must be able to work outside during summer camps. All interns will have a background check performed.
