About Us

The Doss Heritage & Culture Center is a Texas & Parker County History Museum, dedicated to bringing history to life for all generations to experience and enjoy.

The Doss Heritage and Culture Center opened in 2006 thanks to a culmination of hard work and dedication by a group of community volunteers called Civic Development, Inc., and the dedication of our entire community.

The DHCC is a dream realized for the Parker County Community. Previously, the history and culture of Parker County was housed in one room inside the Weatherford Public Library. Now, the 23,000 square foot Doss Heritage and Culture Center is available for the world to enjoy the rich history and culture of the area.

The Doss Heritage and Culture Center is open to the public 5 days a week. Check out the Explore tab to see what exhibits are currently in the galleries. The Learn tab will update you on all of our education programs, and keep up to date on the Events page for our upcoming events & fundraisers!

Tour The Doss

The museum is self-guided 5 days a week, however staff is available to answer questions and enhance your experience. Visitors spend anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours in the Museum, and do not forget to check out the Museum Shop where you can find collection reproductions, great books, and more!

Our Mission & Vision

The mission of the James and Dorothy Doss Heritage and Culture Center is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Parker County through cultural and educational events that raise awareness and pride in our western heritage.
