With her fellow stitchers watching, Lauren Chambers of Millsap drew the winning ticket for the Doss Heritage and Culture Center’s recent fundraiser while Linda Bagwell, DHCC board member , looks on. Lauren, about to begin one of the Doss Center’s summer children’s programs-this one in needlework-reached in and selected among the tickets the name of the person who bought the first ticket from Board member Carolyn Glenn: Pat Hamilton of Weatherford. Hamilton, president of the Weatherford branch of Plains Capital Bank, has a long-standing relationship with the Doss family though banking and friendship, “and I’m just delighted to further strengthen that bond,” he said. “Of course, Sharon and I are happy to support the Doss Center’s activities and programs, and am especially honored that one of the children taking a class at the center this summer actually drew my name. The children’s educational programming at the Doss has become an important aspect of its offerings.”
Hamilton’s winning ticket allows him to select from among several trips, including a four-day trip to Napa, Calif.; a Caribbean or Alaskan cruise; or a week’s stay in Paris, France.
James may, DHCC Board president, was “very satisfied,” he said, with the fundraiser. “Thanks to the generous support of many of our fine citizens, the Doss Center programming has been strengthened financially, but, just as importantly, we appreciate the show of support for the Doss Center itself, its exhibits and programming. Our community is becoming more aware of the asset that the Doss Center is to our area. We invite everyone to come visit and see for themselves!”
